Kato Havas O.B.E. – A Hungarian-born international teacher and lecturer who was based in Oxford, England. She was the author of six books about violin technique, the recipient of the ASTA International Award and an honorary member of the Isaye Foundation in Belgium.
The New Approach is based on the tension-free playing of the Hungarian gypsy violinists and on a fundamental physical balance with free flowing energy impulses. It incorporates Kodaly principles of inner hearing and is applicable to all forms of music-making: classical, folk and popular as well as to all ages and levels of playing: performers, amateurs, teachers, students, and children.
