UNUSUAL QUARTETS !
– for a Quartet of Violin, Viola and 2 Cellos, or Quartet of Violin, Viola, Cello and Bassoon
..
Everyone knows the string quartet as 2 Violins, Viola and Cello, it is now a centuries old tradition. But it does not have to be always that. Somewhere in You Tube there is a recording of a quartet with 1 violin, 1 viola and TWO cellos; this seems interesting to me as a cellist. I gave it no more thought, until the cellist Helle Bovensmann mentioned the idea of something for violin – viola – cello and bassoon for the “Umami” Quartet.
So I have adapted a few examples which give an answer both to her suggestion and to my liking of a quartet with two cellos. So here I start this ‘Unusual Quartets’ mini series!
..
I have already placed the pieces on my website, under ‘U’ on «CELLO IN OTHER FORMATIONS»:

Says «I have already placed the pieces on my website, under ‘U’ on «CELLO IN OTHER FORMATIONS»». I am not finding these listings. Are there still Umami Quartets available?
