Johnstone Creations – Albums of EUROPEAN FOLK MELODIES to develop 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions on the cello – 9 pieces in all, in 2 volumes – this music has been specially produced for two cellos – also with the possibility of being rehearsed/performed by larger cello ensemble. Especially useful for use in the Cello class.
These pieces are arranged specifically for cellists who are comfortable with first position and who are now are venturing into second, third and fourth positions. They are written for two cellos, the second part being an accompaniment to be played by a teacher or colleague. The music comes in a score followed by individual parts for each piece, and are probably going to be much more fun than working through position change exercises because they are presented as little concert pieces – miniatures – rather than as studies. The first volume has five pieces and the second volume four – but the pieces in the second book are more extended and have a longer duration in total. Whichever one/s you try – just enjoy them!
