TCHAIKOVSKY – song ‘Barber of Seville’- THREE CELLOS

Other Identification:
“The Barber of Seville” is a miniature of Tchaikovsky of only twenty bars. It was composed in 1872 for a production (in Russian) by the librettist Mikhail Sadovsky (1847–1910), after Pierre Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais (1732–1799). This performance was undertaken by students at the Moscow Conservatory and was written for the very unusual combination of tenor voice (soloist) and two violinists, who play in a guitar-like accompaniment always in pizzicato. It does not appear to have been published until 1906, but must be considered a minor work.
