Other Identification: Ray Walker (1883 – 1960), a writer and composer of popular songs during the pre-World War I era and a charter member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.
Warren Reynolds Walker, was one of a group of young composers who enjoyed success during the ragtime period of American music. His first song was published in 1898, and a series of others followed.
Prominent vaudeville performers as Mae West, Sophie Tucker, Fanny Brice, Belle Baker and Blossom Seeley helped to popularize his songs. “That Funny Bunny Hug” was later used to typify the 1914 period in the Broadway musical, “Sing Out, Sweet Land.” Mr. Walker was a professional musician, principally a piano player and accompanist.
