Hindemith was a violinist, violist, composer, conductor, and theoretician whose work spanned various genres. His style evolved from early romantic and expressionist influences to a sophisticated, contrapuntal style often described as neoclassical. He composed significant works for virtually every classical genre, including music for solo instruments, chamber ensembles, and large orchestras.

Theoretical Writings – his influential book, Unterweisung im Tonsatz (The Craft of Musical Composition), published in 1937, explored his theories on music.
