Antonín Dvořák’s Silent Woods (Czech: Klid) is a popular arrangement for cello and piano or cello and orchestra, originally a four-hand piano piece from his cycle From the Bohemian Forest (Op. 68, B. 133). Dvořák created the cello and piano arrangement in 1891 for a farewell concert tour to the United States and later arranged it for orchestra.
Movements or sections:
The piece is a “dreamy romance,” evoking a forest at dusk with a lyrical cello melody. Due to the popularity of the cello and piano arrangement, Dvořák created a further arrangement for cello and small orchestra in 1893.
