Jonathan FeBland (b.1960) trained at the Royal Academy of Music, London (1978-82). His work has been published and is in print with Universal Edition since 1986. He has written extensively for Solo Piano and has had seven major works premièred by Louis Demetrius Alvanis. The CD ‘Piano Colours’ (Alvanis plays FeBland on the Meridian label) was released in the UK and is available on Amazon and iTunes. B3 Classic, a trio consisting of Clarinet, Cello & Piano featured FeBland’s English Suite on a Warner Brothers CD ‘Chamber Music Discoveries’ that was launched at the prestigious Conde du Duque Hall in the Plaza de España, Madrid in December, 2007; the CD reached the top ten several times in the Spanish iTunes Classical Chart in 2008. The composer passed away in 2017.

Personal

David Johnstone lives near Pamplona (Navarre, Spain) with his wife Rosa and their two “Spanglish” children, close to the Atlantic Pyrenees. The nearest international airport is Bilbao.

He is interested in world affairs, politics, animal rights, and most sports (including being a lifelong suffering Reading FC fan!). Also passionate about Celtic culture and genealogy, he has traced his ‘English’ family back to 1280, although Scotland and Ireland have also shaped his background. And yes — he is half-ashamed to admit it, he loves silly jokes!

Social Work

David Johnstone supports animal rights, he is against any form of abuse towards them, and says a loud “NO” to bullfighting, foxhunting and any other animal cruelty.
