Pau (Pablo) Casals’s motet ‘O vos omnes’ is a 1932 choral work for mixed voices, based on a text from the Lamentations of Jeremiah and often performed during Holy Week. The title translates as “O all you who pass by on the way,” and the text refers to a profound sorrow, often interpreted as the lament of Christ on the cross.
It is a passionate and richly textured work, appropriate for the Passion season and often performed at Tenebrae services.
