“Moon River” is a 1961 song composed by Henry Mancini with lyrics by Johnny Mercer, originally sung by Audrey Hepburn in the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The song was written to fit Hepburn’s vocal range, and she performed the entire song herself with a guitar accompaniment.

The song won an Academy Award for Best Original Song and was inspired by the Back River near Mercer’s childhood home in Savannah, Georgia. It has since become famous through various arrangements.
