“God is our Refuge” is a short motet of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. He composed it in July 1765, whilst he was on a visit to London. He made it as a gift for the British Museum (possibly alongside another work)! It has been allocated the number K 20.

Approximate difficulty: EASY
It is an interesting transcription for four cellos, or by a larger cello ensemble with the parts being doubled up – David Johnstone prepares it so only first and fourth positions are necessary at any point. He transposes it into the key of B minor, from the vocal original in F minor. In the case of larger cello ensembles, a conductor should better be present.
