BRAHMS – Cradle Song, Op.49 No.4 – 6 CELLOS (Easy)

Other Identification:
Johannes Brahms’ “Cradle Song” (officially “Wiegenlied,” Op. 49, No. 4) is a famous lullaby first published in 1868. It was written as a gift for his friend Bertha Faber to commemorate the birth of her second son, and includes a hidden counter-melody to a folk song she used to sing to Brahms. The lullaby was first performed publicly on December 22, 1869, in Vienna by singer Luise Dustmann and pianist Clara Schumann.

The “Cradle Song” is commonly known as “Brahms’ Lullaby” and has become a staple for lulling children to sleep. Its gentle melody makes it a popular choice for music boxes, mobiles, and other children’s toys. It is frequently used in film and television.
