This song is a ‘Canzonetta’, written in B flat major and originally for two sopranos, bass and three basset horns, by Wolfgang Amadeus/Amadé Mozart (1756 – 1791). The short texts were by Pietro Metastasio. The composition is dated as Vienna, 16th July 1788, and the first performance was that very same day, in Vienna’s Musikvereinsaal “Zum roten Ingel”!
