“Autumn Leaves” is a jazz standard composed by Joseph Kosma with French lyrics by Jacques Prévert in 1945, originally titled “Les feuilles mortes” (The Dead Leaves). The popular English lyrics were written by Johnny Mercer around 1950. The song is widely performed in the jazz repertory due to its harmonic structure, which is ideal for learning jazz improvisation.
