BEETHOVEN-Bockmuhl – Cello [orig. Violin] Concerto – CELLO AND PIANO REDUCTION

Other Identification: Bockmühl came from a wealthy merchant family and, after appropriate training, initially worked in the family business. He also received cello lessons from an early age. In 1842, he retired from his career as a merchant and devoted himself exclusively to music. As a cellist, Bockmühl was considered “one of our first amateurs on this instrument”.
He wrote 69 works with opus numbers, mostly fantasies and divertissements for cello with piano accompaniment on well-known operatic themes and folk songs, as well as character pieces of various kinds, published from 1838 onwards.
His contact with Clara and Robert Schumann at this time led to Bockmühl providing the fingerings and bowings for the cello part of the first edition of Schumann’s Cello Concerto, Op. 129, at Schumann’s request. However, he made excuses not to perform or even rehearse with Schumann, and his requests on the cello writing were not accepted by the composer!
Movements or sections: The three movement wonderful violin concerto of Ludwig van Beethoven is onsidered to be the absolute peak of classical period violin writing.
