JOHNSTONE – Le Petite Tango – SOLO CELLO

Other Identification:
This is an effective concert piece, a piece of tango influence in Astor Piazzolla style (hence the wit on ‘Le Grand Tango’). But it is not so ‘petit’; it is in ternary form with some challenges that can be certainly overcome for the medium-to-advanced player, with a duration of about 5 mins. Written in 2003, it was four years later published by Creighton’s Collection as one of the 15 pieces in the collection ‘Virtuoso Pieces for Solo Cello’ but is offered as a present here with a few experience markings in pencil!
Instrumentation:
Solo Violoncello.
Approximate difficulty:
Medium to difficult
Dedicatee of this presentation (if applicable):
It is dedicated to the cello (and bandoneon) player and professor Rodolfo Zanni, an expert in tango music.
