Documenting the cello
SUGGESTIONS
Other site suggestions for Sheet Music
Johnstone-Music (‘documenting the cello’) was born with the idea of sharing cello music where possible; one thing is covering the costs of maintaining a complex web site but… “Art should come before business”!
Therefore, the following are some very good webs indeed, with interesting cello material, and personalized attention – all highly recommended by Johnstone-Music:
CELLO FUN
A great web! Interesting articles, technique help, and free downloads of cello music, especially for solo cello with accompaniment. A site run by professional cellist Ian Swedlund, born in New Zealand and now working in the Basque National Orchestra:
http://cellofun.eu
VCELLO MUSIC PUBLICATIONS
Barbara Hedlund is a talented, intelligent musician operating with an informed viewpoint in all musical styles, and a lifetime of experience as principal orchestral cellist and teacher. There are fine arrangements which you will not find in any other place, at affordable prices, for example for the special combination of voice, cello and piano:

NO ES UNA GUITARRA
Excellent arrangements for larger cello ensembles – many suitable for music school and younger players – by the Catalan cellist Marçal Ayats, a performer with very varied experience including special roles alongside important pop musicians and singers. Some of the work he generously offers for free can also be found on Johnstone-Music (by permission):

YELLOW CELLO MUSIC
A large selection of playable ensemble music for the intermediate musician, usually graded according to ability. Some Works are offered free, but the majority are offered at very reasonable prices. The site is run by cellist Sheryl Smith, who previously has collaborated with Johnstone-Music. I would like to mention that her real specialty is setting up beginners for success – she has lots of super easy music for 2,3 and 4 cellos, and even some all open string duets to get people used to playing together…

Cecilia de Montserrat and Paz Jaramillo Marcos
A magnificent collection of CDs, including PDF scores of a multitude of essential educational pieces for young cello players at the music schools.
They are available in the bookshop EL ARGONAUTA, Madrid: https://www.elargonauta.com
and from the Duo Pazeci:

How do free downloads work?
Please enjoy looking around the very large selection of music offered, and the information given for each piece or work. When you find music you want, simply click “Yes, I wish to download this music”.
You can then either continue searching or go to the Collection Point to receive the music. You can order up to ten PDFs in each session (once per day).
The very first time you receive music, you will need to register on this site with the briefest details, of course at no cost at all. Then, on subsequent visits, you simply ‘log in’.
It is hoped to launch a special viewer subscription for unlimited access in the near future.
Practising good intentions
This site includes a wealth of historical and modern documents, photos, and music — some obviously of unknown or untraceable origin. Johnstone-Music makes no intent of financial gain from sharing the material; any royalties happily belonging to the original owners.
We believe that virtually anyone would appreciate the educational and academic value of sharing, and we’re happy to credit (and thank) any name. However, please be assured that if any copyright holder were to firmly object to the inclusion of something in their domain we would promptly remove said item upon request.
Personal
David Johnstone lives near Pamplona (Navarre, Spain) with his wife Rosa and their two “Spanglish” children, close to the Atlantic Pyrenees. The nearest international airport is Bilbao.
He is interested in world affairs, politics, animal rights, and most sports (including being a lifelong suffering Reading FC fan!). Also passionate about Celtic culture and genealogy, he has traced his ‘English’ family back to 1280, although Scotland and Ireland have also shaped his background. And yes — he is half-ashamed to admit it, he loves silly jokes!
Social Work
David Johnstone supports animal rights, he is against any form of abuse towards them, and says a loud “NO” to bullfighting, foxhunting and any other animal cruelty.
TORTURE IS NOT CULTURE !
