BACH – Gavotte (from the French Suite No.5, BWV 816) – THREE CELLOS

Other Identification:
The French Suites, BWV 812–817, are six suites which Johann Sebastian Bach wrote for the clavier (harpsichord or clavichord) probably between the years of 1722 and 1725. Music from the French Suite No.5 in G major, BWV 816 appears in the Notebooks for Anna Magdalena Bach in about 1722. Of the 7 movements, the Gavotte is the fourth movement. These Suites do not appear to have been published until the beginning of the nineteenth century.
The name “French” was not actually assigned by Bach and is associated later.
Cello arrangement originally by Michel Rondeau, and slightly changed by David Johnstone
