This sonatina is of some seven minutes duration, is composed as a “positive” work! Originally the faster second was born fruition of a commission for a production about the Josefina Arregui Clinic, Alsasua, Navarra (Spain) and its creator, Felipe Lecea. With the mere basics of using one tune and one accompanying figure of a rippling motion Johnstone clearly creates a sonata form structure, with a final coda of joyous pride. The later composed first movement is very cyclical with the second, and forms a long slower introduction…
