REMACHA – Romanza in A flat – CELLO AND PIANO

Other Identification:
Fernando Remacha is largely considered the most representative composer of the Navarre region in the years after the Second World War – the culturally starved years of the Franco regime. He is quite difficult to define, having both neo-classic and French impressionist influences, and often considered a ‘dry’ composer.
However, this present short Romanza is a beautiful work, with rich almost romantic flavours which one might associate with Dvorak. Originally for violin and piano though largely ignored, even in Spain, this cello transcription might well do his reputation more justice!
