BACH – Chorale Prelude ‘Liebster Jesu wir sind hier’ (Blessed Jesus, at your word) – FOUR CELLOS

Other Identification:
“Liebster Jesu, wir sind hier” (Dearest Jesus, we are here) is a Lutheran hymn written by Tobias Clausnitzer in 1663, set to a melody by Johann Rudolph Ahle. J.S. Bach composed several organ works based on this chorale, most notably the Orgelbüchlein settings (BWV 633 and 634) and the independent chorale prelude BWV 731 (the base for THIS TRANSCRIPTION), which is an early work for the organ.

The hymn is a prayer for enlightenment and guidance, making it suitable for the beginning of church services, and it has been widely translated, including into English as “Blessed Jesus, at your word”.
