Luis Cáceres was a Cuban-born Spanish musician, best known as the author and composer of the famous bolero “Espérame en el cielo” (1949). He also participated in other musical works and compositions in Spain throughout the 1950s and 1960s, such as the pasodoble “Madrid, viva Madrid.”
This famous song was composed by Luis Cáceres García and made famous by Antonio Machín. The music became the main theme of the soundtrack of the film of the same title directed by Antonio Mercero in 1988, which earned José Sazatornil ‘Saza’ a Goya award and achieved tremendous success.

Approximate difficulty:
The version for two cellos of David Johnstone is quite comfortable for medium level cellists (no thumb position is obligatory), but as always, in the music inspired by the ‘bolero’ sensitivity is required in abundance!
