CHAPMAN_Tina Turner – Song ‘Simply the Best’ – FOUR CELLOS

Other Identification:
“The Best” is a song written by Mike Chapman and Holly Knight, originally recorded by Bonnie Tyler on her 1988 release Hide Your Heart (in the US the album was titled Notes from America). The single reached number 10 in Norway and number 95 in the United Kingdom. The song was later covered by Tina Turner, and released as a highly successful single in 1989. It was included on her hit album Foreign Affair. The saxophone solo on Turner’s version is played by Edgar Winter.

Simply the Best as an album was the first greatest hits compilation by Tina Turner and was released on October 22, 1991. The album includes Turner’s most popular hits since her comeback in the early-mid 1980s.
Movements or sections:
marked ‘Moderate rock’
Instrumentation:
QUARTET OF FOUR CELLOS
Arranged by David Johnstone

1 PDF, with all four individual parts (no score)
Approximate difficulty:
Johnstone’s treatment is original in that it treats the four cellists as chamber musicians within a pop sphere; all parts are vital. However, the work should not present many problems for the intermediate and advanced cellists, although thumb position is occasionally used in the upper parts, and double-stoppings are fairly commonplace.
