Miguel Hilarión Eslava y Elizondo (21st October 1807 – 23rd July 1878) was a Spanish composer and pedagogue from the Navarre region.
In 1847, he won the competitive examination for a teaching position at the Royal Chapel of Madrid, and from 1854 he was a professor of composition at the Madrid Conservatory. For the next two years, he edited the Gaceta Musical de Madrid, and from 1866 he was director of the musical section of the Madrid Conservatory, working to reform study methods and promote the creation of an organ chair.
