FALLA, Manuel de – Seguidilla Murciana (song) – CELLO AND PIANO

Other Identification:
The ‘Seguidilla Murciana’ is a fast-paced song and dance in triple time, part of Manuel de Falla’s “Seven Popular Spanish Songs.” It is characterized by its lively rhythm and the use of piano triplets reminiscent of the Spanish guitar. The piece, originally from Murcia (south-east Spain), alternates instrumental sections with vocal phrases, maintaining the flavour of this popular dance.
Inexplicably, the movement appears to have been omitted from the outset in the violin-piano version, and soon after, the cello-piano version. Let’s put that to right! Originally in the vocal version it was the second song; however, seeing that both string versions make a completely different order, I would propose that this be the ‘new’ last piece (that is, piece number 7).
