FRENCH, Peter – Parallel Fifths (‘If it sounds good, it is good !’ or «Saint Cecilia, pray for me!») – FOUR CELLOS (Easy)

Other Identification:
NOTES:
Peter French has had a lifetime in music whilst holding a day job. I well remember him in our formative years, playing viola in our youth symphony orchestra (in Reading, Berkshire, UK). After university he became involved in choral music, church music, dance music, and also in gentle pop music.
This present piece he showed me recently, and I thought it was most interesting – because it deliberately breaks all the rules in the academic book whilst still sounding very good! I immediately imagined that it might work very well for cello ensemble by changing the key. This means that the no cello needs to play more higher than fourth position (with extension).
I include/attach the original vocal score because for teachers and pupils alike it is useful to see the note colourings and who is with who. Might be better than a theoretical harmony class!
So …. many thanks Peter
Enjoy the music!
