María Isabel Granda y Larco, known artistically as Chabuca Granda, was a Peruvian singer-songwriter, record producer, film scriptwriter and playwright. She composed and wrote a large number of Creole and Afro-Peruvian music songs, as well as poetry and theater and film scripts.
Movements or sections:
“La flor de la canela” is a Peruvian waltz that has become one of the most representative songs of Peru, and known worldwide. But what very few know is that this beautiful song has its origins in a very special friendship that Chabuca cultivated with Mrs. Victoria Angulo Castillo when the latter visited her at work in a pharmacy in Jirón de la Unión. And the rest is history!
