HANDEL – Sarabande (from the Suite No.4, in D minor) – FOUR CELLOS OR CELLO ORCHESTRA

Other Identification:
This Sarabande in D minor by George Frideric Handel is the fourth of six movements in the Suite No. 4 in D minor, HWV 437. This suite was composed c.1703-1706, and was first published in London in 1733. It features a beautifully meditative theme followed by variations.
Movements or sections:
David Johnstone has produced a version for ensembles for cellos (and another for full string orchestra) which is perhaps unusually expansive for the Baroque era, and is very convincing on the modern cello.
