HAYDN – Song ‘Der Augenblick’ (‘This Moment in Time’) – STRING QUARTET

Other Identification:
“Der Augenblick”, roughly translated as ‘This Moment in Time’ or simply ‘This Moment’, is a four-part song of Joseph Haydn, one of a group of such songs composed at the very end of the eighteenth-century. This song was composed in 1796 and first appeared in the same year in ‘Aus des Ramlers Lyrischer Blumenlese’. It was commercially published in 1803.
Movements or sections:
David Johnstone simply prepares the original score, at real pitch, for string quartet, offering bowings and other indications. As a secular work, this makes for a wonderful little inclusion alongside the grand large-scale works of other classical period composers. There is no general score offered, but sufficient rehearsal letters are shown.
