Javier López Jaso is one of the most relevant Spanish accordionists in the current music scene, evolving musically towards Jazz and improvised music. He works with different formations and top-level musicians, investigating new improvisational resources applied to accordion technique.
He was born in Pamplona.
He has recorded for radio, television and his interpretations and CDs are frequently broadcast in Spain by La primera (TVE), Tele 5, RNE-Tadio Clásica and Radio 3, Euskal Telebista …and also on BBC radio.He has recorded three C.Ds of different themes as a leader, or co-leader with D. Johnstone and has collaborated in other record and film productions.
Currently his interest in Jazz makes him devote himself intensely to this field in his different groups and projects.

Personal

David Johnstone lives near Pamplona (Navarre, Spain) with his wife Rosa and their two “Spanglish” children, close to the Atlantic Pyrenees. The nearest international airport is Bilbao.

He is interested in world affairs, politics, animal rights, and most sports (including being a lifelong suffering Reading FC fan!). Also passionate about Celtic culture and genealogy, he has traced his ‘English’ family back to 1280, although Scotland and Ireland have also shaped his background. And yes — he is half-ashamed to admit it, he loves silly jokes!

Social Work

David Johnstone supports animal rights, he is against any form of abuse towards them, and says a loud “NO” to bullfighting, foxhunting and any other animal cruelty.
