JOHNSTONE – Descanso del Peregrino (Pilgrim’s Rest) – TWO CELLOS

Other Identification:
Cello I was originally composed as a solo cello piece (therefore sounds fine by a performance a sole cello soloist) and the second cello part was added later. Both versions are convincing!
The piece describes an imaginary over-night stop in Estella, Navarra whilst walking along the St. Jacques way towards Santiago de Compostela. It is almost modal in parts.
This makes a good companion piece in performance to “Andando el Camino” (Walking along the Way), also possible with two cellists.
