JOHNSTONE – Iranzu – TRIO IN VARYING POSSIBILITIES OF FORMATIONS (BUT ALWAYS INCLUDING ACCORDION)

Other Identification:
“Iranzu” is an usual work of de David Johnstone of inspired creation in the year 2000, adding to the Navarre-Basque repertoire. The composer was inspired in the countryside around the Iranzu monastery (near Estella), producing sensations of both peace and harmonious strength. Its originality is accentuated in that the trio always includes accordion, but the other two instruments can vary enormously – one chosen from flute, violin, oboe, clarinet or recorder, and the other from cello, bassoon or viola.
First performed by the trio Casado-Johnstone-Lopez Jaso (flute-cello-accordion) in the ‘Cultur’ Festival for the regional government of Navarre.
