Other Identification: This music is just one part of the large series ‘European Romantic Pieces’ for String Quartet, some 9 works, and lasting some 45 minutes. The motivation for these compositions by David Johnstone is to unite old and new Europe in a ‘Journey Through Europe in Quartet’.
‘Mediterranean Skies’: an elegant piece with a soft melody, a delicate, often very transparent accompaniment, all of which gives a sense of romantic swing that can be felt and appreciated in many Mediterranean countries – sunny days, far from the grey clouds and the cold of other parts of the continent!

Movements or sections: In ternary form: the short middle section contains a particularly interesting and expressive part for the viola.
