JOHNSTONE – The Swedlund Sinfonia (2012) – 8 CELLOS

Other Identification:
Note – this is considered one of Johnstone’s most notable works!

This music is the cello version of the orchestral work of Johnstone ‘Sinfonia of Passion’. However, in the orchestral version two soloists are always present as protagonists, whereas in this cello re-creation the melodic importance is shared around all of the parts to form a chamber octet, making a need for high attention in rehearsals to know which parts shine at any given moment.
Movements or sections: The tempo indication is ‘Allegro molto moderato, quasi andantino’
Instrumentation: OCTET OF EIGHT CELLOS
this music might be effective in Cello Orchestra, but has been specially produced for eight SOLO cellists.
