Miguel Matamoros was a Cuban musician and composer, born in Santiago de Cuba on May 8th, 1894, and died on April 5th, 1971. He made a great contribution to the development of the Cuban son, a rhythm originating from the rural areas of eastern Cuba.

The song ‘Dulce Embeleso’ by Pedro Vargas talks about the lingering memory of a passionate kiss that fills the singer’s heart with both joy and sorrow. The kiss is portrayed as a comforting flame that warms the singer’s heart, but also as a source of melancholy that consumes them with longing and nostalgia.
