“Hey Jude” is a 1968 song by The Beatles, written by Paul McCartney to comfort John Lennon’s son Julian during his parents’ divorce. The song evolved from an earlier version, “Hey Jules,” and encourages Julian to embrace opportunities and find love despite his difficult circumstances. It is known for its lengthy, sing-along coda of “Na-na-na na,” is over seven minutes long, and was a major hit for The Beatles, marking their first release on their own Apple Records label. At the time of its release in 1968, it was the longest single ever to top the British charts!
