REINECKE – Romanzero, in the form of a concertante work – SOLO CELLO AND ORCHESTRA

Other Identification: The work is practically a Concertino, where the soloist and orchestra are in closely related dialogue. Probably only the difficulty of the solo part has limited its programming in concerts. All the normal romantic virtuoso elements are present, together with a cadenza in the third part; however, there are also many declamatory passages too!
Movements or sections: The work roughly follows a fast – slow – fast order.
Instrumentation: Cello Soloist and a full orchestra that includes four horns and harp. No full conductor score is offered.

Dedicatee of this presentation (if applicable): Julius Klengel (he was the soloist in the first performance)
Links (Audio – Visual), and known performances given by: Written in about 1902, published the following year, and the first performance was given in 1906.
