“Hello” is a 1984 ballad by Lionel Richie, released as the third single from his second album, Can’t Slow Down. It was a global number-one hit, topping charts in the US and UK, and is known for its iconic music video about a blind student and her teacher. The song’s creation was inspired by a conversation between Richie and producer James Anthony Carmichael, who told him to finish the song after Richie greeted him with “Hello”.
