SCHUMANN – Traumerei (1838) – FOUR CELLOS

Other Identification: This piece is the seventh of a total of 13 pieces for solo piano, titled “Scenes from a Child,” by Robert Schumann. Composed in 1838, the song was born through an exchange of letters with his wife, Clara Schumann, but rather than a song written for a child, it was created by an adult reminiscing about his childhood. Despite the smallness of the work, its density, and the never-ending ease of fully expressing the beauty of the harmony, Schumann’s distinctively romantic melodies are carefully crafted. It is a very good song to play carefully and enjoy.
