SOLIMA – Violoncellos Vibrez! – 8 CELLOS

Other Identification:
“Violoncelles, vibrez!” is a musical work by composer Giovanni Sollima, written in 1993 for two cellos and strings. It is considered one of his most popular and frequently performed pieces, inspired by a phrase (“Cellos, vibrate!”) frequently repeated by his former cello teacher, Antonio Janigro!

The piece has been performed in various arrangements, including one for four cellos and orchestra, premiered at the London ‘Proms’ in 2018. However, the version for eight cellos is perhaps the most spectacular. It is one of Sollima’s most popular works and was also one of the first pieces he recorded on CD.
