The Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a is a selection of 8 musical numbers that Tchaikovsky made from The Nutcracker ballet for a concert performance before the St. Petersburg branch of the Musical Society on March 1892. Every number was acclaimed and repeated, and the suite became an instant success.

2. March (of the toy soldiers) [2 ½ minutes]
3. Dance of the Sugar-Plum Fairy [2 minutes]
4. Russian Dance (Trepak) [1 ½ minutes]
5. Arabian Dance [ usually about 4 minutes – but some performances are much quicker]
6. Chinese Dance [ 1 minute, 10 seconds ]
7. Dance of the Mirlitons (Reed-Flutes) [3 minutes]
8. Waltz of the Flowers [7 minutes]
