WEKERLIN – Notre Pere! – CELLO AND PIANO (easy)

Other Identification:
Like so many young French composers Wekerlin (also sometimes written Weckerlin) started hoping to make his name in the theatre and opera; despite some success he later turned to writing salon operas for performance either privately or as the second half of a vocal recital. His compositions cover many genres: works for orchestra and for voices and orchestra, oratorios and other sacred works, and over 300 songs. This song was believed to have been written in 1877, showing a popular – almost salon music – appeal.
A forgotten composer that deserves to be recalled!
Movements or sections: Andantino
Instrumentation:
DUO CELLO AND PIANO
….
1 PDFs, containing both parts
Approximate difficulty:
Johnstone has done no more than to bring the melody down an octave, making it most appropriate for elementary level cellists (it does not venture past third position and the rhythm is comfortable too) but also makes for a simple but beautiful melody for more accomplished players.
