The song “An den Vetter” (translating as ‘For the Cousin’ or ‘To the Cousin’) of Joseph Haydn is one of a sizeable group of secular songs he wrote for small ensembles of voices. This one was composed in 1796 and first published in 1803; therefore, very mature writing indeed from our distinguished composer!

David Johnstone transposes the original into D Major, so as to be idoneous for cellists. All three voices have almost equal importance, making it a very interesting concert piece to programme by medium to advanced cello trios.

There is no general score offered, but ample rehearsal letters are shown.
