“Figaro for Five” for 5 Solo Cellos, based on the famous aria of Rossini, has been presented as a cello quintet by David Johnstone. It is an arrangement for medium to advanced players, however, despite the incessant spiccato bowings in 6/8 time it is all of a ‘virtuosic show well playable’! More suitable for solo players in a chamber music setting rather than a large cello orchestra.
