Notes:

I believe that this late-romantic Swedish woman composer deserves to be far more widely known. This specific piece – Meditation – is not a ‘heavenly’ work as such, but displays real firm writing which will remind some of the great Rachmaninov C# minor prelude for piano. Whilst cellos 1 and 2 are placed generally in the Q position registers,

In loving memory of Dong-Oo Lee (1956-2022), wonderful South Korean musician and cellist – soloist, orchestral principal, Professor of Cello, Chair of Strings and Chamber Music at the University of Ulsan, College of Music

ALL parts are absolutely essential – it is the collective voices which truly invokes ‘sharing together’, qualities which Mr. Lee possessed in abundance. The first two or three parts are in the higher registers of the cello; the other parts are more comfortable.

I do hope his important legacy might be remembered in the cello libraries in South Korea and indeed elsewhere.
