Brief Information:

The SOLOIST CADENZA to the FIRST MOVEMENT was ‘composed’ by E.J. Moeran somewhere between 1921 and 1930. It is very useful in that other important cellists used elements from this cadenza as a base or influence for their own efforts! The original copy, in the University of Melbourne (Australia) is quite difficult to read, so Johnstone has written it out once again – again by hand, though much easier to read – for presentation here.
