Johnstone Creations – DAVID JOHNSTONE – Scottish Song No. 1 (Concert Piece) – Auld Scotch Sangs – this music has been specially produced for six cellos. Also possible with Cello Orchestra / use in the Cello class etc.

Download Contents or Instructions:

PDF 1 – All individual cello parts (20 pages in all)

PDF 2 – General Score (15 pages in all)

The tempo indication is – Slow with big feeling (quarter-note = c.60)

General difficulty of the music – other brief Information:

EASY to DIFFICULT (according to which part)

[also see the 2 other pieces in this set – ideal to be performed as a full concert suite of some twelve minutes duration]

ALSO – some time later David Johnstone decided to continue this set of pieces. He has also added SIX new song pieces for 4 Cellos! Numbers 4 to 9 are more comfortable technically; some parts use 5th to 7th positions, but thumb position is only very rarely called for in the upper most parts. In EVERY song, ALL parts share the melodic line although logically the first cello part shines the most in this respect. In all of these six songs, performance versions for 4 soloists or with a larger cello ensemble or orchestra are both perfectly possible (although a conductor might be welcomed in larger ensembles to keep everything together!). They are all available in Johnstone-Music (see “4 Cellos” or “Easy Cello Ensembles” for these pieces).
