Brief Information:

The ‘traditional’ version copied down. With the traditional harmonies to back it. And also with the traditional harmonies but a new soloist concert version of this old Catalan melody, much loved by Pau (Pablo) Casals. Both versions are possible with the SAME accompaniment offered, depending on what type of performance you are looking for! Johnstone has produced a subtle ‘virtuoso’ version, far more difficult than the original melody – all the harmonic implications are heard in the cello writing, however these should always remain delicate and pure to the ear. Johnstone’s new ‘creation’ is dedicated to the North American cello virtuoso Wells Cunningham.
The main orchestral score is very close to the cello ensemble (or sextet) version, so a separate score is hardly needed and the string orchestral score offered in both circumstances.

Hear David Johnstone play his own version without accompaniment:

If this is not preferred by you, then simply keep to the ‘original’ well-known tune as made famous by Casals which is also included for you in the PDFs.

Enjoy the music !!
